Jayson Tatum: A Rising Star in the NBA

Early Life and Career

Jayson Tatum was born on March 3, 1998, in St. Louis, Missouri. He began playing basketball at an early age and quickly developed into a top prospect. In high school, Tatum led Chaminade College Preparatory School to two state championships and was named Missouri's Mr. Basketball in 2016. After graduating from high school, Tatum attended Duke University. In his one season with the Blue Devils, he averaged 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He was named ACC Freshman of the Year and helped lead Duke to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

Professional Career

Tatum was selected with the third overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. He quickly became a key contributor for the Celtics, averaging 13.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in his rookie season. In the 2020-21 season, Tatum led the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals and was named an All-Star for the first time. In the 2021-22 season, Tatum took another step forward, averaging 26.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. He was named to the All-NBA Second Team and helped lead the Celtics to the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Golden State Warriors.

Personal Life

Jayson Tatum is the son of Justin Tatum, a former professional basketball player, and Brandy Cole. He has two brothers, Jaycob and Kayden. Tatum is married to Toriah Lachell and they have a son together.
